WHO WE ARE
Throughout time, humans have reduced "beauty" to a single definition. Beauty norms have forced us to believe we must be skinny, tall, blue-eyed, blonde, and white to be valid in society. Project Beauty is a social media platform on which we deconstruct the idealization of human appearances, by diversifying the representation of people with different physical features in media and sharing our models’ experiences with the single narrative of beauty standards.
Most of our research and knowledge is based not only on our personal experiences with this issue, but also external references on campus as it is a common topic shared within the youth nowadays. All of which led to the conclusion that the current beauty standards produce a negative impact on the younger generations, as they are the most influenced and vulnerable, lowering their self-esteem and inserting surreal expectations on them.
Our vision is to diversify the beauty narrative & normalize the inclusion of everyone in the beauty industry. We aim to create a platform that welcomes the full splendor and diversity of individual stories alongside their physical expression.
